New ProCap™ Controls Offer High Return on Investment

Each year, utilities of all sizes and types spend tens of thousands of dollars on capacitor-station equipment and maintenance. To help these companies maximize return on their product investment, Maysteel is now offering the affordably priced ProCap™ 140/150 series capacitor controls, designed to provide dependable operation over years of service.

Utilities will find ProCap an economical alternative for precise control of capacitor stations, using voltage, temperature, or a combination of both. Engineered with sophisticated microprocessor technology, the 140/150 controls ensure stations are switched effectively and operate efficiently, minimizing inspection and upkeep.

"Electric utilities use capacitor stations in their distribution feeders to increase revenue while providing added capacitance. It's all about energy loss reduction - losses for which a utility cannot bill and therefore cannot receive revenue," says Doug Parentice, marketing manager, Maysteel. "Utilities trying to minimize losses in distribution lines will find ProCap an ideal component and necessary solution for their pole- and pad-mounted capacitor banks."

The ProCap 140/150 series is easy to use and features an intuitive front panel design with LCD display. Selection of manual or automatic settings can be made with the turn of the dial. In addition, manual control is attainable by simply flipping a switch. There's no need to delete existing automatic settings.

To assure worry-free use and reliability, the 140/150 does not require a battery. Batteries have to be tracked for useful life and need to be replaced. Dead batteries can cause a loss of the control's memory. "That's a problem we never want utilities to encounter," Parentice says.

The ProCap 140 provides voltage control only. ProCap 150, voltage or temperature control with voltage override. Both models have a socket-mounting design, which makes installation easy.
